PKTD has one source of revenue: Pro subscriptions. The app is free to try, then Pro at $14.99 CAD/month or $89.99 CAD/year, billed by Apple. That is the entire business model.
The short version
You pay us money. We give you software. Nothing else changes hands.

Why this page exists
Many free receipt apps — the receipt-rewards kind — are funded a different way: they sell or share aggregated purchase data with brands and market-research firms. That's a legitimate trade when it's disclosed — but it means the receipts are the product. We built PKTD on the opposite trade, and we'd rather say so plainly than let you wonder.
What your subscription pays for
- AI parsing compute. When you turn on AI parsing, each receipt costs us money to process. Your subscription covers it — no other funding needed.
- Development. PKTD is built and maintained by a small team in Edmonton, Alberta.
- Apple's cut and infrastructure. App Store fees, plus the server that securely relays optional AI requests.
What we don't do
- Sell or share your receipt data. We couldn't if we wanted to: receipt images and ledger data live on your iPhone — and in your private iCloud if you enable sync — never on our servers. Our server keeps only operational counters (rate limits, aggregate usage) to run the service. There is no PKTD database of your purchases to sell.
- Run ads. No banner ads, no "sponsored offers", no brand placements. Ever.
- Track you across apps. No advertising SDKs, no surveillance analytics. Our App Store privacy label has no "Data Used to Track You" section at all.
- Train AI on your data. AI parsing is off until you turn it on, sends extracted text only — never your images — and card numbers are redacted on your device first. We don't use your receipts or chats to train AI models.
- Hold your data hostage. There's no account to create, and export (PDF & CSV) is built in. If you cancel, your data is still yours — it was on your device the whole time.
Check it yourself
Every claim on this page is how the app works today — not a promise for later. Three ways to verify:
- Read the label. Open PKTD on the App Store and scroll to App Privacy. Compare it with any free receipt-rewards app.
- Scan in airplane mode. Point the camera at a receipt with no connection at all — capture and text reading happen on-device.
- Look for the sign-up screen. There isn't one. We can't monetize an identity we never asked for.
If we ever change how PKTD makes money, we'll change this page first — and tell you.
